Africa-focused renewables firm Lekela picks finance head

Africa-focused renewable power producer Lekela announced today the appointment of Michael Parsons as the company’s new chief financial officer (CFO).

In addition to taking care of all financial matters, Parsons will also be a director on operating subsidiary boards throughout the group. Before joining Lekala, he served as director of finance for Globeleq. He has also held positions at Actis, CDC Group, Close Brothers and NatWest UK.

Parsons commented that he sees huge opportunities within Africa’s renewable energy sector and added that several projects are moving towards financial close.

Lekela is a 60/40 joint venture between Actis and a consortium led by Mainstream Renewable Power. Its current portfolio includes more than 1,300 MW across projects in Egypt, Ghana, Senegal and South Africa.
